I love this Carly! The part about "connection is a lifelong practice" spoke to me. It reminds me of this blog post by Seth Godin called "lifelong connection"

Love this Carly! I have the yearning too and that’s how my podcast started - just wanting to introduce myself to people and ask questions. I can’t wait to host you on the pod. On a side note - I find that I am good at introducing myself to others, even building the beginnings of a relationship, but struggle to organically nurture the relationship to grow to a true connection. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this, AND, a separate thought - how to become a magnet for inbound leads/introductions to come to you (not just outbound). Can’t wait to chat more in Feb 💗

OoohOOhooH first of all you'd love reach out party thats basically exactly what we figure out how to do / sustain. but I absolutely have thoughts on this. Following through mainly fails bc of the systems we have (or don't). We don't have a consistent way to remember to follow up, and typically we don't have enough of a long term vision that keeps us motivated to do it even when we remember. Re inbound, I think doing something with a strong POV and sharing it in a way that feels authentic is the best way to get the right people reaching out to you.

Thanks for your thoughtful and encouraging posts!

I’ve been binging your Substack because I’m definitely a yearner, and just about to literally do the whole blow up my life thing.

That’s why your content has been a literal God send for me. I need to get up to speed on the reach out and connection skills I owe myself. I’ll keep reading your stuff and trying!!

Wow, it genuinely feels like you’re describing me. Ignoring the tug and then overhauling my life has definitely been one of my recurring strategies. It is not that effective, to be honest ;) I also fully agree that connection is the foundation of everything (I actually made it my word for 2026) and really love the reach-out party concept!
